A/Professor Brian Herman
Brian Herman has over 30 years of experience in clinical and interventional cardiology and currently serves as the director of the Department of Cardiology at the Launceston General Hospital and director of the Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Calvary St Vincent’s Hospital, Launceston.
Having relocated from New York in 2003, he has overseen the development of the LGH cardiology training program, fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians.
While skilled in many investigations, he specializes in interventional cardiology used to treat complex heart disease and has performed over 15K procedures.
Professor Herman has lectured widely throughout the state and nationally and has been involved in the development of an interventional program in Galle, Sri Lanka.

With 25 years of experience in acute cardiology at LGH, Elizabeth has a passion for improving patient care.
Her MBA in health management and her work at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research served to emphasize the importance of preventative and timely cardiac care to improve outcomes.
She enjoys working with patients and involving them in understanding their journey.
Senior Cardiac Physiologist
With 25 years of experience, Hilda is widely recognized as one of the most technically proficient sonographers in Tasmania.
She has a PhD in heart failure detection from the University of Tasmania and continues to be involved in cardiac research at the Menzies Institute.
She has a genuine passion for improving cardiac services for the local community.
Verity received a graduate diploma of cardiac ultrasound through Queensland University of Technology and has previously worked in medical research at the Menzies Institute.
She currently performs echocardiograms for Tasmanian Cardiac Care and the Royal Hobart Hospital.
Verity is particularly interested in paediatric echocardiography and adult congenital heart disease.
Susan has been part of our team since its inception.
Her three decades of experience providing front desk medical services has led to an intimate understanding of the needs of patients and has been invaluable in providing timely and personalised care.
Kylie McNear Whelan
Medical Administrator / Receptionist
Kylie works as a medical receptionist.
With previous experience in general practice, she has a deep understanding of the diverse needs of people, which helps her relate easily to our patients.
