Dr Umair Hayat
Interventional and Structural Heart Cardiologist – MBBS, FRACP, D-Med Sci (Research)
Dr Umair Hayat (MBBS, FRACP, D-Med Sci) is an interventional and structural heart cardiologist based in Tasmania, Australia; he is consulting at Tasmanian Cardiac Care in Launceston.
Dr Hayat completed advanced cardiology training in NSW and an interventional fellowship in Melbourne, followed by a TAVI fellowship at the NHS – a busy public national healthcare body in England.
Dr Hayat completed his Doctorate from the University of Melbourne for research in coronary optical coherence tomography (OCT). He continues to contribute to research having assisted in over 30 publications. He has a special interest in minimally invasive procedures such as transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI).

I am a Cardiac Sonographer with 36 years of experience. I’m passionate about Cardiology and I consider Echocardiography to be my area of expertise.
Outside of work I also have a background as a professional vocalist & enjoy being involved in the live music scene.
